🗓️ Grokkist Events and Gatherings Guide
Last updated 19 Jan 2026
If you’ve been quietly orbiting the Grokkist Network — reading, browsing, sensing the vibe — you are so welcome here. That said…
If you want to “get” Grokkist, come to a gathering. And if you’re ready to begin truly unfolding yourself, consider hosting one (more on that below).
You’ll meet genuinely interesting people in the midst of their own becoming, and you don’t need to be perfect, prepared, or impressive. Show up as your shoes-off self — curious is enough.
If you’re curious how we shape our gathering culture, explore these resources:
Access Key
🟢 Open Access: free and open to all.
🟣 Member Access: for Grokkist Members.
đźź Ticketed Access: open to all with a cover charge.
The 7 Event Formats
🟢 Coddiwomple Cafe
A Coddiwomple Cafe is a hosted conversation space — usually centred around a beautiful question, a theme, a curiosity, or a lived experience. It’s less “presentation”, more sensemaking together.
Great for:
exploring ideas and exchanging perspectives on questions that matter to you
leading a discussion that unpacks something you’ve read / made / noticed
meeting people through shared attention
Common formats:
90 minutes-ish
short framing from the host (5–10 mins)
check-ins leading into emergent conversation
synthesised reflections leading into check-outs
🟢 Red Thread Talk
A Red Thread Talk is a space for someone to share something alive in them — an idea, a practice, a story, a lens — and invite the community into it.
Sometimes these are polished. Often they aren’t. The point isn’t perfection. The point is: you take something you care about seriously enough to offer it.
Great for:
sharing your perspective or lived learning
giving a short talk + discussion
testing an idea you might later develop into something bigger
Common formats:
30–60 min talk
30–45 min discussion / Q&A
optional breakout reflection
🟢 Lightning Talk Night
Every grokkist carries a few cherished obsessions — a topic that lights them up, a curiosity that never quite lets go, a story they’ve wanted to tell but never quite had a reason to.
Lightning Talk Night is our playful “show-and-tell for grown-ups.” A space to be seen, to share, and to enjoy the quiet magic of people revealing what makes them come alive. It’s a Pecha Kucha-style community showcase.
Format: Pecha Kucha
20 image-only slides
20 seconds each
~6 minutes per speaker
No text, no pressure, no need for polish
It’s part creative playground, part social experiment — a way to:
celebrate curiosity
find connection
practise expression in a safe, time-bound frame
Presenting is optional. Attending totally counts — every event needs witnesses.
We don’t post the whole session recording, but we can share individual talks (unless a presenter prefers not to).
🟢 Affinity Group Gatherings
Affinity Group Gatherings are regular, recurring meetups that form around a shared practice, interest, or path of becoming.
These aren’t “one-off events” so much as ongoing rooms you can return to — spaces where the same faces start to feel familiar, your confidence grows naturally, and the community becomes something you can lean on.
They’re perfect if you want rhythm, continuity, and a softer kind of belonging.
Great for:
building a practice over time (writing, speaking, thinking, creating)
finding your people through a shared cadence
showing up imperfectly, repeatedly — and getting stronger because of it
Common structure (varies by group):
warm check-in / welcome
a simple ritual or prompt to open the space
guided discussion + hands-on practice
optional sharing (never compulsory)
reflection / closing circle
🟣 Members Lab & Lounge
This is the member-only space for people who are actively building, shaping, shifting, prototyping. Sometimes it’s supportive. Sometimes it’s challenging. Often it’s both — in the best possible way.
Think of it as the community’s friendly forge: a space where your work and your becoming can be held with intelligence and care.
(🟢/🟠/🟣) Practitioner Workshop
A Practitioner Workshop is a community member offering something from their craft, practice, or expertise.
It might be:
a method you teach
a tool you use
a practice you’ve developed
a live learning experience you can guide others through
Three modes:
🟢 Open access workshop (gift / taster / community offering)
đźź Ticketed workshop (more polished + structured, with a cover charge)
🟣 Members-only workshop (typically for Grokkist Members who are pilot testing a new paid offering among friendly faces)
These are exactly the kinds of events where someone’s “red thread” becomes visible and useful to others.
Great for:
workshopping an idea with other grokkists
getting help naming what you’re doing
being witnessed through ambiguity
connecting with potential collaborators
exploring “what’s next” with others who get it
đźź Live Course Session
Course Live Sessions are events that sit inside (or alongside) a paid offering.
They might be:
cohort workshops
live teaching sessions
practice circles
office hours / community integration sessions
special guest sessions
Great for:
supporting course participants in real time
deepening community around a structured journey
bringing aliveness to a curriculum
🎤 Hosting a Grokkist event (and finding your idea)
Events are the lifeblood of the Grokkist Network. Hosting is one of the simplest ways to step into the life of the community — and many grokkists discover their next thread by doing just one small event.
It’s about showing up with something real — a question, a practice, a story, a curiosity — and letting it become richer in the presence of other people.
That’s part of how this place stays alive: not as a content platform, but as an ecology where we witness each other into fuller shape.
Hosting a grokkist event isn’t a polished performance. It’s a practice of:
showing up without needing to be finished
offering something you care about
letting yourself be witnessed
helping others be witnessed, too
And the best part is: your first event can be small, simple, and honest.
Here’s how to do it:
1. Find your spark (rough is fine)
You might start with:
a question you can’t stop turning over
something you’re learning in public
a practice you love
a skill you can share in a friendly way
2. If you don’t have an idea yet, start here
Do the free #Unlock Your Grok course (it’s designed to help surface what’s in you)
Come to Members Lab & Lounge (🟣) and workshop your half-idea with others
Browse the #Recordings Library and “steal a shape” that feels doable
Want 1:1 support? Explore our Workshop to Life Signature Project
3. Propose your event
Use the Event Proposal Form (half-formed is welcome). We’ll help you choose:
the best event type
a title + event invitation blurb
a simple structure that fits your style
the right access level (🟢🟣🟠)
4. Schedule + prep (with support)
Most events are scheduled a few weeks out. We can help with:
a run sheet / structure
tech setup
optional rehearsal
facilitation support (if you want it)
5. Host it
Your job isn’t to be impressive, it’s to hold the room kindly and help people meet one another well.
You show up as yourself. We’ll handle the scaffolding.
6. Wrap + share
If your event is recorded, we’ll help organise the recording and share it appropriately.
