🗺️ Introducing Realms: A New Way to Navigate the Grokkist World
UPDATE 19 FEB 2026: We are putting the Realms layout into hibernation in our latest round of refurbishments - therefore please ignore the links below as they will no longer work. The Realms will return in the future in a more visual/interactive form.
The Grokkist community is growing — and so are the ways people show up here.
Some arrive tender and curious, seeking space to unfold.
Some come to build, collaborate, or share something alive in them.
Some come to sit with complexity, while others seek soft refuge.
And many move between these states depending on the week.
As this continues, we’ve realised that the existing organising logic doesn’t do justice to the richness and nuance of what’s happening here.
So we’re introducing something new, and also not new at all:
We’re calling them Realms — and they’re our new way of mapping the Grokkist world.
🌍 What are the Realms?
Realms are not topics, interest groups, or silos.
They’re living terrains — each one holding a different rhythm of engagement.
You might remember we started talking earlier in the year about Affinity Groups — curated spaces for shared exploration. But as we consulted and reflected, we realised something vital:
One of the things people value most about Grokkist is the experience of intentional encounters with difference.
This is a space where:
Some people want to talk about systems change and global politics.
Others want to focus on personal healing, poetry, or relating gently with themselves and others.
Some want both — but not at the same time.
Everyone values that the other modes exist — but they also don’t want to be disturbed by, or feel they’re intruding on, someone else’s rhythm. That makes it hard to know how to show up, what to say, or where to begin.
Realms are our response.
They offer soft edges — not barriers, but cues.
Each Realm makes visible a particular way of being in the community — helping people explore at their own pace, on their own terms.
🧠Why we’re doing this
As well as being a navigation update — Realms are part of a larger shift toward curating conditions for meaningful participation.
We’ve already begun laying the groundwork through:
The #Calls and Invitations space and the reimagining of our courses into braided experiences — making it easier to step in, contribute, or ask for support.
Ongoing prototyping of community roles and campaign-based organising — enabling people to engage around shared momentum and purpose, not just content.
Quietly designing a future system for recognition and contribution — planting the seeds for a soulfully playful form of gamification (without the extractive bits).
And it’s supported by our newest behind-the-scenes member of the Grokkist Elves, @Vlad Metrik, who’s helping us prototype what we’re calling engagement engineering — creating systems and practices that enable belonging and dynamic contribution across the Network.
This is all part of a bigger commitment: to make Grokkist feel like a relational, regenerative ecosystem where everyone can find their rhythm, follow their thread, and contribute without overwhelm or confusion.
🏗️ What to expect over the coming weeks
We’re rolling out the Realms gradually.
You’ll start to see things move around — links changing, access shifting, content being gathered differently.
Pardon our mess as we gently rearrange the furniture.
The first Realm to go live will be The Unfolding Realm — our new starting place for people standing at a threshold, ready to stretch and begin. The other Realms will follow soon after.
🌱 What are the Realms?
Here’s your first full look — each Realm has a poetic “shoes-off” name, paired with a clear “shoes-on” label to help you find your way.
🧡 The Unfolding Realm (Identity & Becoming)
This is where many grokkists begin — standing at the threshold of a new chapter, seeking clarity, courage, or simply the feeling of being witnessed. The Unfolding Realm is a soft space to make sense of who you are becoming, to follow your red thread, and to begin contributing in ways that feel true.
You’ll find our First Sparks series here, along with Unlock Your Grok, Find Your Red Thread, and the community-driven Grokkist Projects. The Still Curious Podcast lives here too, as does the Red Thread Café — a space for those in the process of emergence to gather and be met.
🔥 The Hearthlands (Community & Connection)
The Hearthlands are the cosy heart of the Grokkist world — a space where no one has to be “on,” and where care flows as naturally as conversation. This is where we build trust slowly over time, catch up over tea, and extend small invitations to participate in ways that feel warm and low-pressure.
It’s home to the Commons, our Calls and Invitations board, Ask a Beautiful Question, and gatherings like the Circle of Care and Story Circles. You’ll also find the Membership Hub, Event Recordings Library, and Members Directory here — the slow infrastructure of belonging.
🛤️ The Crossroads (Welcome & Wayfinding)
The Crossroads is your central waystation — the place to pause, orient, and see what’s unfolding across the Grokkist landscape. Whether you’re arriving for the first time or checking in between journeys, this is where announcements gather and signposts appear.
Here you’ll find the Welcome Hub, Community Announcements, Events and Gatherings, the Academy Live Calendar, and updates from the Grokkist Press.
🌳 The Entangled Vale (Shared Inquiry & Sense-Making)
This is where grokkists gather to sit with complexity — not to solve it, but to stretch into it. The Entangled Vale is home to shared inquiry, epistemic humility, and the kind of dialogue where difference deepens understanding. If you find yourself asking questions that don’t resolve easily, you’re likely already here.
The Entangled Vale includes our Ecosophy course and resources, the open discussion space of The Agora, and the playful rigour of our Philosophy Gyms.
🌊 The Soma Isles (Embodiment & Expression)
The Soma Isles are a gentle archipelago for integration and expression. This is where the body leads, the hands remember, and creative practices help us metabolise what thinking alone cannot. It’s about process, presence, and self-tending through art and movement.
Here you’ll find the Comparative Meditation course and discussion threads, the Neurographica visual mapping practice and other practice workshops and resources around art therapy, freewriting and authentic relating, and the Driftwood Table — a space to share fragments, free writing, or whatever’s moving through you.
🌿 The Wild Margin (Changemaking & Possibility Work)
Where imagination meets action. The Wild Margin is our creative frontier — a place for experimentation, collaboration, and reworlding. This is where campaigns are born, writing salons stir possibility, and the edges of what’s possible start to take form.
You’ll find our upcoming Writing Salon and Campaigns here, and the Intro to Impact course — all spaces where dreaming turns toward doing.
🧪 A living experiment
All of this — the Realms, the new structure, the language we’re using — is part of an ongoing experiment. We’re building it in the open, based on what feels alive and what helps us connect more meaningfully.
We don’t expect to get everything right the first time. And we won’t be afraid to adapt, remix, or retire things as we learn. That’s how we do things here — together, in motion, with care.
If you’re curious:
Let us know — which Realm do you feel most drawn to right now?
Want to help shape or steward one? Talk to us!
Prefer to observe for now? That’s totally welcome.
We’ll post updates as each Realm comes online — and later, we’ll be introducing Nature Trails: guided pathways through the Realms with companion prompts, recognition systems, and gentle gamification.
This is just the beginning.
Thanks for grokking with us đź’›
