🎟️ We're a community partner of the Online Facilitation Unconference β€” 5–7 November

Grokkist is a community partner of the Online Facilitation Unconference again this year. It runs 5–7 November, online, across all time zones β€” the annual gathering for people who facilitate online. Last year there were 130 participants from 29 countries and six continents, and we ran a session on #▢️ Coddiwomple Design: Holding space when you don’t know where you’re going (yet).

What it actually is

An unconference, so nobody has decided the programme in advance. There are three main blocks of three hours across the three days. Pick one and you have had the whole unconference; stay longer if you can, or drop into a single session here and there. People pitch sessions live at the start of each block β€” about thirty seconds each β€” and the schedule fills up in the room. No programme committee, no submission deadline, no slides required.

The OFU homepage shows the schedule in your own time zone, and their How to participate guide explains how the days work.

Your discount codes

Being a partner means we have codes to share with you for a minimum of 30% off. The GEO variants are OFU's geo-fairness tiers, meant chiefly for people in countries with lower incomes. It runs on the honour system, no questions asked, and they mean it β€” so take the one that fits your circumstances rather than the one you think you are allowed.

Register on the OFU registration page and enter your code at checkout. Tickets are $59 at the moment and rise as the date gets closer; the discount applies to whatever the price is when you register.

There are also volunteer places: two or three hours supporting the event during the days, and your ticket is free. Write to hello@ofuexchange.net if that suits you better.

Why we're in it

A lot of what we do here is holding space β€” Red Thread Talks, the Coddiwomple CafΓ©, the practice rooms, and the Facilitator Sandbox that Ember Parkin is starting in October. OFU is the room where several thousand people who care about the same craft compare notes, and it is one of the few places I know where facilitation, public engagement, education and leadership all end up in the same conversation.

If you come, say so β€” it is much better with people you know in the room.

Coddiwomple with care,
Danu
